Cargoson information for carriers

Cargoson is a transport management system used by manufacturers and wholesalers to manage shipments with the carriers they already work with. It is not a freight marketplace, load board, or broker. There are no public loads here to bid on. If your customer asked you to register, you're in the right place. If you're trying to figure out what Cargoson is, this page is for you.

Built for shippers, free for carriers

What is Cargoson, in 30 seconds?

What Cargoson is

A transport management system (TMS) used by manufacturers and wholesalers in Europe and North America to plan, price, book, and track shipments across all the carriers they work with.

What Cargoson isn't

A freight marketplace, load board, or broker. We don't aggregate loads, run a public bidding system, or promote carriers to shippers. There are no public loads here to buy or sell.

What carriers do here

Receive quote requests and shipment orders from shippers who already use Cargoson and have added you as one of their carriers. You can respond via email, by signing in, or via an integration we can build with your booking system.

What it costs you

Nothing. Cargoson is always free for carriers, including any integration work we do with your booking or tracking system. We are paid by the shippers, never by carriers.

Shippers add carriers, not the other way around

How does a carrier end up working through Cargoson?

Three steps, in order. Without step 1, the rest doesn't happen.

1

A shipper uses Cargoson

A manufacturer or wholesaler uses Cargoson to manage their logistics across all the carriers they work with: price calculation, spot price requests, booking, tracking, documents, and statistics.

2

They add you as one of their carriers

Because you already do business with them. Either we set you up on their request, or you register a carrier account and they add you to their list inside Cargoson.

3

Their requests and bookings reach you

Quote requests and shipment orders arrive via email / PDF, by signing in to Cargoson, or via an integration we build with your booking system. Whichever suits you best. We build the integration for free.

The most common misconception

Is Cargoson a freight marketplace or a load board?

No. Cargoson is a TMS used by shippers to manage their own carriers, not a place to find new shippers or new loads. Here is a quick comparison:

Cargoson TMS

A freight marketplace or load board

For shippers (manufacturers and wholesalers) to manage their existing carriers
For carriers to find new shippers and loads
Shippers select their limited list of carriers they like to work with
Open marketplace of loads or capacity
No competitive bidding for new business, spot requests only to partners
Often built around public auction-like bidding
Free for carriers, including integration work
Carriers often pay per network access or per load
Used by mid-market manufacturers and wholesalers (EU + NA)
Used by any party looking to buy or sell freight capacity

Cargoson is always free for carriers. We don't charge for accounts, per-shipment fees, or network fees, including the integration work we do with your booking software or tracking system.

Not a middleman, not a 4PL

Cargoson doesn't come between you and your customers

We are a SaaS used by shippers to manage their own logistics, not a freight forwarder, broker, or 4PL. The relationship between you and your customer stays direct.

Direct billing

You invoice your customer the same way you do today. Cargoson never touches the money or takes a cut from a shipment.

Your rates, your contracts

You negotiate rates and sign agreements directly with your customer. Cargoson then helps them digitize and apply those rate cards inside the platform. Our powerful pricing engine handles even the most complex price calculation logics & surcharges.

Only your customers

Your account shows only the requests addressed to you by shippers who use Cargoson and have added you to their carrier list. No public loads & bidding.

Pure SaaS, paid by shippers

Cargoson runs on a fixed monthly subscription paid by your customer - the shipper. Carrier accounts are 100% free and always will be. We are not a freight forwarder, and not your competitor.

Transport decisions stay with the shipper

The shipper picks the carrier for every shipment, not us. Cargoson never does any freight forwarding. Every request reaches you because that shipper specifically chose you.

Three common reasons carriers land here

What should you do as a carrier on Cargoson?

Pick the situation that fits.

Yes, you're in the right place

Your customer asked you to register

A manufacturer or wholesaler told you they use Cargoson and need you on board. Register a carrier account using the button below. The account stays empty until they add you to their carrier list, usually within a day or two. From there, their quote requests and bookings start reaching you.

You want to verify if a customer of yours uses Cargoson

Ask your customer first. We also publish a partial public list of shippers who let us display their logos on our references page. Not every Cargoson shipper is there. If your customer isn't on the list and you'd like us to confirm, email [email protected].

Not what Cargoson is

You're looking for new business, loads, or new shippers

Cargoson isn't this. We don't run a marketplace, network, or bid system, and shippers using Cargoson choose their own carriers. For load-finding, freight exchanges like Trans.eu, Timocom, or DAT are what you're looking for. Cargoson is for managing relationships that already exist.

Three channels, same data

However you prefer to receive queries and transport bookings, we'll meet you there.

Cargoson can deliver the shipper's requests as API requests / EDI file into your own system, as email, or in our web app. All three at once is fine too.

Direct integration with your system

If you run your own TMS, dispatching software, or booking system, we build an integration and every transport order lands there in your preferred format, ready to be picked up by your dispatcher. Quote requests and tracking events flow the same way. We build it at no cost, on your spec. This is how most carriers we work with connect, and the channel we recommend: fully automated and reliable, with no ongoing work on your side once it is live.

A free carrier account, useful if you don't have a system to integrate or simply prefer working in one place.

Frequently asked questions by carriers about Cargoson

Cargoson is a transport management system (TMS) used by manufacturers and wholesalers in Europe and North America to plan, price, book, and track shipments across all the carriers they work with. Shippers add their own carriers, upload rate cards, request quotes, place orders, and track shipments, all from one dashboard.

No. Cargoson is not a marketplace, load board, freight exchange, or broker. We don't aggregate loads, run competitive bidding, or sell transport services to our customers to on behalf of a carrier. Shippers choose their own carriers; Cargoson helps them work with the carriers they already chose.

No. We don't operate a network or pipeline of shippers we can introduce carriers to. Shippers using Cargoson have their own list of carriers, typically ones they already work with.

Ask them first. They have the answer. We also publish a partial public list of shippers who allow us to display their logos on our references page. If your customer isn't on the list and you'd like us to confirm, email [email protected].

Because they use Cargoson to manage their shipments and want you in their carrier list so they can request quotes, place bookings, and track shipments with you from inside Cargoson. The carrier account stays empty until they add you as their transport partner.

Every quote request and transport order arrives in a standardized format, so there's no chasing different shippers' formats and templates. All communication with those shippers, including per-shipment chat, status updates, and documents, lives in one place. Much of the manual back-and-forth disappears, especially when we integrate Cargoson with your own booking system. You can also see your own statistics on how your lanes and rates are doing. And you receive shipments whichever way fits your workflow.

The easiest path is for a shipper who uses Cargoson to ask us to add you. Otherwise, you can fill out the carrier registration form yourself. In this case, the account stays empty until a Cargoson shipper adds you to their carrier list.

No. Cargoson is always free for carriers. We don't charge for accounts, per-shipment fees, per-load fees, or network fees. Most enterprise TMS platforms that sell to shippers charge carriers. We don't.

No. If a shipper using Cargoson wants an integration with your booking or tracking system, we build it at no cost to you. The shipper benefits from automation; you benefit from receiving orders the way that fits your workflow.

No. Cargoson never touches the billing between you and your customers. You invoice your customer directly, the same way you do today. Our revenue comes from the fixed monthly subscription paid by the shipper, not from per-shipment commissions or markups.

That's fine. A decent share of carriers our customers work with, usually smaller ones, receive their orders by email. Quote requests and bookings arrive in your inbox in a standardized format, with the same details laid out the same way every time regardless of which shipper sent it. You can also sign in to Cargoson directly to see and respond to requests and bookings.

Yes. Once your account is set up and a Cargoson shipper has added you as their carrier partner, you have access to a carrier-side view: incoming quote requests, bookings, shipment statuses you can update, documents and tracking info attached to each shipment, and a per-shipment chat to talk to the customer directly about that specific shipment.

Most enterprise TMS platforms charge carriers, either a fee to be in their network or a per-shipment fee paid by the carrier. We don't do any of that. Cargoson is paid by the shippers we serve, never by carriers.

Directly with your customer (the shipper), the same as today. Cargoson doesn't sit between you on contracts. Once you and the shipper agree on a rate card, Cargoson can digitize it and apply it inside the platform. Our pricing engine handles even the most complex pricing matrices.

No. The shipper picks the carrier for every shipment. Cargoson doesn't make those decisions and doesn't act as a freight forwarder. Every quote request and transport order reaches you because that specific shipper chose you for that shipment.

Shippers, specifically manufacturers and wholesalers in Europe and North America that ship across multiple carriers and freight modes (road, courier, air, sea, rail). Our focus is on shippers shipping enough that managing carriers one by one in separate portals becomes painful.

No. Cargoson isn't a tool for finding new shippers or new loads. We don't run a marketplace, network, or bid system. Shippers using Cargoson choose their own carriers. For load-finding, freight exchanges like Trans.eu, Timocom, or DAT are the right tools.

Whichever way suits you best. The common options are: by email (a templated message generated by Cargoson on behalf of the shipper, with the request or booking details), by signing in to Cargoson directly, or via an integration with your existing booking system that we build for free at the shipper's request.

Yes. If any of your existing customers already use Cargoson and you'd like every request and transport order to flow into your own booking, dispatching, or invoicing system from the start, we can start now. Send your API/EDI documentation, test-environment access, and a technical contact to [email protected]. Our IT team handles the development at no cost.

Probably not. Demos are designed for shippers (manufacturers and wholesalers) who are evaluating Cargoson as a TMS for their own logistics. If you're a carrier, this page is the most useful read. If you have specific questions after this, email [email protected] and we'll respond by hand.

That's fine. Register the carrier account using the form and we'll match you up with them on our side. The account stays empty until they add you to their carrier list, which usually happens within a day or two.
